It’s our goal at epitome to be an outlet for the creative voices of women in our community. We are a reflection of you: assorted creations from different backgrounds, viewpoints and talents. We want to hear from you! Blind us with your brilliance. If you are unsure what we are looking for, just read our magazine to see the kind of work we publish. We currently do not offer any compensation for articles. We reserve the right to edit articles for length and content. We reserve the right to refuse to print any article for any reason. Submitted information must be received by the 18th of the month prior to publication to be considered.
Nonfiction:
Essays, general interest, humor, personal experience, and features on topics relating to women and women's interests, especially area women who are making a difference in our community, and Women in Business. Queries with clips and/or writing samples are preferred, but finished articles are also accepted for evaluation. Articles should be no longer than 800-1100 words. Previously unpublished articles only.
Photos/Artwork:
We feature the work from a different female artist in each issue of epitome. If you are an artist and would like to submit photos of your work, please send them via email to submissions@epitomemag.com. Please send no more than five photos for the initial review. Artists who are selected should have at least ten works they can send digitally for publication. Please include contact information, and/or current and upcoming gallery showings.
Fiction:
Format– Include contact information (name, address, phone, email) on the first page of your manuscript, and include your name on each subsequent page. No submissions longer than 3500 words. You may send your submissions via email to submissions@epitomemag.com (preferably as a RICH TEXT FORMAT attachment), or by regular mail to the attention of the Editor. Submissions that are sent via regular mail will be returned if you include a self-addressed stamped envelope (with sufficient postage to cover the return). Fiction selected for publication may be split into two consecutive issues, depending on length.
Poetry:
epitome welcomes poetry that celebrates life and accentuates the positive aspects of being a woman. Poems should be accessible to all readers. No forced rhyme or “greeting card” verse, please. Submissions must be within the actual email.
Bio:
For all submissions, please enclose a brief (35-50 words) bio. so it’s available if we publish your work. Please also send contact information (name, address, phone, email).
Please Note: We review all submissions, however, even if we are interested in a proposed article, we cannot guarantee its publication. Also, sometimes an article may be selected for publication, but it may be pulled at the last minute due to lack of space. We try to avoid this, but it does occur at times. We try to respond to all submissions promptly, but due to volume, we can’t always respond as quickly as we’d like.
